Player Ratings: Milan 5-1 Udinese

Generalna — Autor nikola22 @ 01:30

Milan:

Abbiati – 6.5:
Didn’t have all that much to do tonight; however he dealt with everything tremendously well. Made two world class saves to deny D’Agostino on two separate occasions, on 10 minutes, and after 72 minutes from a free kick.
Antonini – 7.5: His glorious passing header set up Pato’s second goal, and Milan’s third after 19 minutes. Worked hard at both ends of the park, and continued his good form this season.
Maldini – 6.5: Solid defensive display by the Milan captain, who didn’t have much to do tonight, however similar to his side’s goal keeper, he dealt with everything that the Bianconeri threw at him.
Kaladze – 6.5:
Similar to his partner at the back, a good individual performance in this contest, as he also managed to get forward on more than one occasion.
Favalli – 7.0: Has been criticized for being too old and too slow in the past; however the left back was anything but that tonight, as he set up the first goal of the match, by chipping a glorious ball in towards Pato, after just 4 minutes.
Jankulovski – 7.0:
Great performance by the left-back turn midfielder tonight, who played an incredible long ball to Favalli to set up Pato’s first. His fantastic long run set up the fifth and final goal of the match, early in the second half.
Pirlo – 7.5:
Went close to scoring for the first time since February in this match, after 65 minutes of play. His ball into the area set up Pato’s second goal, whilst his amazing free kick, which was well saved by Handanovic, led to Seedorf tapping in the fourth.
Seedorf – 7.0: Quiet start by the Dutchman, however he worked his way into it as the match wore on. Was an absolute workhorse in the midfield, and deservedly scored after 43 minutes of play.
Kaka – 9.0: Looked confident and menacing when in possession of the ball, and tested his luck from long range on more than occasion. He scored twice, including an absolute wonder strike after 52 minutes, and was dangerous alongside Pato all match.
Ronaldinho – 7.0: A relatively quiet night by the Brazilian, in comparison to his other team mates anyway. He took a little while to get into the contest, but became more and more influential as the match wore on.
Pato – 8.5: Two goals and an assist in the first 20 minutes of play set up the Rossoneri victory. The young Brazilian played with a real sense of confidence tonight, and he ended the year off in the same fashion he started it in, by scoring at the San Siro. He managed to score four goals in his last three matches, to cap off a wonderful 2008.

Subs: Shevchenko 6.0, Darmian 6.0, Strasser 6.0

Udinese:

Handanovic – 5.5:
The visiting keeper was not really at fault for any of the goals; however he did concede five on a disappointing night for the club. He managed to make a number of world class saves though, including a free kick by Pirlo on 43 minutes, which was eventually pounced on by Seedorf, and led to Milan’s fourth.
Ferronetti – 5.0: Very quiet outing by the right back tonight. Offered little support in attack, and was caught ball watching on one too many occasions. Most notably in the first goal scored by Pato, where he was caught in no mans land, as the Brazilian coolly opened the scoring.
Sala – 4.5: Dreadful performance by the centre back, as he struggled all match with the pace and creativity of the Milan attacking players, in his second start for the season. His questionable marking led to the first goal, whilst his slow reactions allowed Pato to skip past him easily, to set up Kaka for the second.
Domizzi – 4.5: Just as bad as his defensive partner, Domizzi was caught ball watching for Kaka’s first, as he let the Brazilian slip in behind him to easily tap in a goal. He almost gave away a penalty after 69 minutes on Kaka, however fortunately for his sake; the referee could not see the contact made.
Lukovic – 6.0: Undoubtedly the best of the Udinese defenders, he was the only player who was consistent in getting forward and defending well for his side. His great run set up the Di Natale goal, and he made several goal saving challenges, including one on Pirlo after 65 minutes.
Inler – 5.0:
Anonymous all night. Was comprehensively beaten by the Milan midfielders, and was unable to do anything all match.
D’Agostino – 6.0: One of three decent players for his side tonight, the former Roma man tested his luck from distance, and went close to scoring after 10 and 72 minutes, only to be sensationally denied by Abbiati.
Isla – 5.0: Barely was seen doing anything, let alone in possession of the ball. Deserves a lower rating, but didn’t do enough to warrant that, due to his lack of involvement.
Pepe – 5.5: Tried hard early, but frustration got the better of him after 20 minutes when his side were 3-1 down. Went downhill from there, and was eventually taken from the field in the latter stages.
Quagliarella – 5.5:
Provided the assist for the Di Natale goal; however he was forced to withdraw from the field after just 40 minutes of play, as he was struggling with a facial injury it seemed.
Di Natale – 6.0: The captain gave his all in this contest, but he lacked support throughout. Scored a great goal after 17 minutes to briefly get his side back into it; however that was the only highlight for the Bianconeri on the night.

Subs: Floro Flores 5.5, Sanchez 5.0, Pasquale 5.0

Da li je Milan u krizi?

Generalna — Autor nikola22 @ 18:31

Gatuzo povredjen,Tiago Silva potpisao.

Generalna — Autor nikola22 @ 22:58

MILAN

Abbiati: 6.0- Had very few saves to make and was nearly beaten early when Paolucci hit the post, but he never made any mistakes.

Zambrotta: 8.0- Showed the form he was in during the World Cup. Bombed up and down the flank and was not afraid to go for goal when the opportunity presented itself.

Kaladze: 6.0- A decent showing, but nearly gave away a penalty in the dying minutes and just a few mintues earlier made a weak effort to clear the ball that was nearly pounced on by Catania in the box. Needs to be more attentive.

Maldini: 6.5- The Milan captain was much better than last week against Palermo, using all of his experience to shut down the Etnei's strikers.

Jankulovski: 7.0- Good game from the Czech, who, like Zambrotta, was always an option for his teammates.

Gattuso: 6.5- A fiery performance from Gattuso as usual, but his temper got the better of him when he was given a yellow card, meaning he will miss next week's match with rivals Juventus.

Flamini: 6.5- Kept his positioning well, but was not invovled enough in the proceeding until the second half. Still adapting to Serie A, it seems.

Emerson: 5.5- Did well defensively, but you can tell physically he is not the same player he once was. Substituted at the half because of a back injury.

Kaka: 7.5- His header led to the winning goal and he created opportunities for himself and teammates. However, he is capable of more than he showed today, drifting out of the game on occassion.

Pato: 7.0- Still a little raw, but was very dangerous with his set pieces. Booked for diving.

CATANIA

Bizzarri: 7.0- Great reaction saves, and nothing he could do on the goal. Would have received a igher rating if he did not throw the ball to straight to Shevchenko in the second half, almost resulting in a goal for Milan.

Sardo: 7.0- A presence on the right flank, taking advantage of Jankulovski's forward runs, but he tired in the second half.

Silvestri: 6.0- Did a decent job marking Pato and Shevchenko.

Terlizzi: 5.0- Some wonder why he is not a certain starter and today showed some glimpses of why that is the case. He struggles to deal with the speed of his opponents.

Stovini: 6.5- The veteran was one of the reasons Catania managed to hold out for so long under the pressure of Milan. Unlucky deflection for the own goal.

Sabato: 6.0- He was nullified by Zambrotta for a majority of the match and struggled to make an impact.

Biagianti: 5.5- Over-run by the Milan midfield.

Ledesma: 6.5- Was not given much space, but managed to ignite the attack on a few occassions by getting the ball quickly up the field.

Carboni: 5.5- Similar to Biagianti, he needed to be more assertive, but these were difficult circumstances.

Mascara: 7.0- Hit the post early in the match and tried to help out his midfielders by dropping deep.

Paolucci: 6.0- Was dealt with by Maldini and Kalaze relatively easily, but did not receive much service to be honest.

Player Ratings: Palermo 3-1 Milan

Generalna — Autor nikola22 @ 12:26

Palermo

Amelia – 8.0: A dominant performance by the Italian international keeper tonight, as he made a countless number of crucial saves throughout the contest. Highlights included a world class save against Pato after 17 minutes, and the penalty save on Ronaldinho ten minutes later.

Balzaretti – 6.5: Worked hard at both ends of the park, but didn’t set the world on fire tonight. He did assist the Simplicio goal however, following a great ball in from the left after 80 minutes.

Bovo – 6.0: The centre-back was a little clumsy tonight, as he picked up yellow card following a poor effort to halt the run of Inzaghi on 48 minutes. He also made an inept challenge on Ronaldinho after 79 minutes, which resulted in Milan’s second penalty of the contest.

Carrozzieri – 7.0: Despite being booked on 77 minutes, he was an extremely influential player this evening. Was great at the back, as he nullified the impact of the Milan forwards, Inzaghi in particular, and he also did well to get forward on a number of occasions.

Cassani – 7.5: The right-back was one of the most consistent performers over the course of the 90 minutes. He was undoubtedly the best player in the first 20 minutes, and he provided support at both ends of the park, putting in some great challenges at the back, and sending in some great balls in attack.

Liverani – 7.0: A general in the midfield this evening, as he was central to a number of his side’s attacking plays. His wonderful chip proved on 59 minutes in to the area led to the second goal, scored by Cavani.

Nocerino – 6.5: Had a shaky start tonight, as he almost gifted Pato a goal after 17 minutes, when his poor touch was swooped on by the Brazilian; however he worked his way into the match, to become an important player in the latter stages.

Bresciano – 6.0: A relatively quiet performance from the Australian international this evening, although he didn’t really put a foot wrong all night.

Simplicio – 7.0: Very clever performance from this player tonight, and he was rewarded with a goal on 80 minutes, following a great ball in Balzaretti.

Cavani – 7.5: The powerful striker provided good support to Miccoli all night, and he too was rewarded with a goal, his side’s second after 59 minutes, when he headed home a Liverani chip.

Miccoli – 9.0: A simply stunning display by Miccoli. Was absolutely dominant for the entire match tonight, and was unlucky not to have scored on more than one occasion. Perhaps a recall to Marcello Lippi’s Italian squad could be on the cards for the Palermo hitman.

Subs: Kjaer N/A, Succi N/A

Milan

Abbiati – 8.5: Undoubtedly his side’s best player on the night, as he made save after save to keep his side in the contest in the first half. He wasn’t really at fault for any of the goals, and can hold his head up high after a phenomenal individual performance.

Zambrotta – 5.5: He worked hard at both ends of the park; however he let Miccoli skip past him too easily for the first goal. Had a great effort to make it 3-2 in the 86th minute, only to be denied by Amelia.

Maldini – 4.5: The Milan icon had an absolute nightmare tonight, as he was troubled by Cavani and Miccoli for the majority of the match.

Bonera – 4.5:
Similar to his partner at the back, he struggled to get the better of the Palermo attacking duo, and suffered greatly as a result.

Jankulovski – 5.0: He evidently gave his all, but he faded out of the contest as the match wore on. Poor marking on his behalf, to allow Simplicio to head home the third goal for Palermo.

Flamini – 5.0: Very quiet performance by the former Arsenal man tonight. He didn’t do much wrong, but also not anything worth noting, and was substituted after 56 minutes as a result.

Pirlo – 5.5: The midfielder took his time to get into the contest. He did go close to scoring on a few occasions, including a 65th minute free kick that forced Amelia into making a great save.

Ambrosini – 5.5: Worked hard in the midfield, but he failed to have the impact he would have hoped for. He was substituted after 56 minutes for Shevchenko.

Seedorf – 6.5: Looked confident and menacing when in possession of the ball, and tested his luck from long range more often than once.

Ronaldinho – 6.5: An inconsistent performance by the Brazilian. Brilliant at times, very poor at others. He scored the only goal for his side from the spot after 83 minutes, but also missed from the spot in the first.

Pato – 6.0: The young Brazilian started brightly, and he had a huge opportunity to score on 17 minutes, but was denied by Amelia. He also managed to win the first penalty for his side, before being forced to withdraw due to injury after 29 minutes.

Subs: Inzaghi 5.0, Shevchenko 5.5, Emerson 5.5

Brazilian Show In Torino Not Enough For Milan

Generalna — Autor nikola22 @ 01:40

Torino hosted Milan at the Stadio Olimpico di Torino tonight in the last Serie A game of the weekend. Milan knew that after Inter's win in the derby D'Italia, they would have to win or lose serious ground to the current Italian leaders.

The Rossoneri were eager to produce a convincing performance after they struggled and then controversially beat Chievo 1-0 last week. Carlo Ancelotti’s side were galvanised by the return from injury of Andrea Pirlo. Torino were also desperate for some points this weekend as their 3-2 defeat at Catania last week left them just three points outside the relegation zone.

First Half

Milan got the play underway, with Andrea Pirlo in the starting eleven for the first time since his injury forced him out of action. Milan began the match in confident fashion, with skilful touches and accurate passing displaying the visitor’s superiority over the home side.

In the fourth minute Milan created a good chance after a team move, but Francesco Pratali was on hand to stop the danger. Torino’s star player Alessandro Rosina threatened a few times in the early exchanges, and was clearly the Granata’s most bright player from the get go.

Milan were keen to take shots from long range, and numerous players attempted to fool Sereni from distance. Torino followed the trend of the match and began to threaten with shots from outside the box. A long range effort from Blerim Dzemaili clipped the top of the bar and sent a wave of excitement around the stadium.

Torino shocked the visitors on 24 minutes by opening the scoring with a header from Roberto Stellone. Rosina’s creativity was the catalyst for the goal, with a fine cross from the left being met by a glancing header from Stellone to put the ball into the back of the net.

Milan responded three minutes later with an equaliser from Brazilian wonder kid Alexandre Pato. A great pass from Gattuso was controlled by the youngster and swept past Sereni into the Torino goal.

Milan were determined to go ahead in the encounter, and so they did on 34 minutes when a free kick was buried into the back of the net by Ronaldinho. A foul on Kaka at the edge of the area handed Milan a golden opportunity which they did not waste, as the Brazilian number 80 curved the ball beautifully into the top corner.

Milan continued to attack and press for yet another goal, but the Torino defence did well to keep them at bay and after a minute of injury time the referee sent the teams into the change rooms with the score at 2-1 for the Rossoneri.

Second Half

The second half began with Milan putting the home side under pressure and dominating the midfield play with Gattuso and Pirlo working hard to win and retain possession. Within two minutes of the restart and great run from Pato nearly resulted in his second of the match, but his eventual shot from a tight angle went over the bar.

Two minutes later Dzemaili threatened to equalise with a wonderful strike from outside the area, but his effort went agonizingly wide of the post. Torino became dangerous and were constantly attacking and putting the Rossoneri in difficulty, but the Milan defence and the reflexes of Christian Abbiati were able to hold off the determined Granata offence, albeit with a bit of luck.

The pace of the play remained high for long periods of the second half, and a confident Torino constantly pushed forward in search of the equaliser, with Milan threatening with quick counter attacks and the corners that resulted.

In the 65th minute great passing play between Brazilians Kaka and Pato almost got the younger of the two on the score sheet again, but Sereni stood strong to deny the 19-year-old. Torino’s pressure was admirable, and the Granata kept Milan on the defensive for the majority of the second half.

In the 71st minute a dangerous cross from Rosina was floated into the Milan area and bounced invitingly along the six yard box before Ronaldinho cleared the danger. Five minutes later Torino were awarded a penalty after a cross from Rosina hit the outstretched arm of Kakha Kaladze. Rosino converted the spot kick, sending Abbiati the wrong way and making it 2-2 at the Olimpico.

Torino kept the pressure on the visiting Rossoneri, and the last ten minutes proved to be a nervous period for Carlo Ancelotti as an avalanche of Granata attacks needed determined defending and goalkeeping to keep the ball from bulging the net.

Milan were lucky not to concede in the last ten minutes of the match with a fiery Torino desperate to score the winner, but it was not to be, and a few minutes after a Ronaldinho free kick ballooned up into the stands the whistle was blown and the game ended with the score at two goals a piece.

Ancelotti: We Should Have Had A Penalty

Milan lost further ground on their cross-town rivals Inter Milan earlier tonight, as they were held 2-2 at the Olimpico in Turin.

Roberto Stellone opened the scoring for the home side, before Alexandre Pato and Ronaldinho both got their names on the score sheet within a six minute period, leaving Milan ahead at the half time interval.

Alessandro Rosina was the hero for the Granata however, as he successfully converted a spot kick with less than 15 minutes of playing time remaining.

The boss of the Rossoneri, Carlo Ancelotti, was rightfully displeased after the contest, as he realized that it was a great opportunity lost for his side.

“We did well to take the lead after Torino’s first goal, however we could have managed the second a little better,” Ancelotti said.

“We needed to be more compact, but we weren’t, so we suffered as a result,” he added.

Ancelotti then went on to comment about the penalty awarded to Torino late in the contest: “it was there to be given, and the referee rewarded Toro.

“However, we had the chance to go 3-1 up previously, had we received the penalty we deserved.

“(Francesco) Pratali struck the ball with his arm in the area, following a shot by Ronaldinho – added the boss. I think this should have been a penalty.”

The latest draw is Milan’s third on the road this term, with similar results coming at lowly Cagliari (0-0) and Lecce (1-1) earlier in the campaign.

The Rossoneri are now three points off the pace set by Inter, following their latest slip-up away from home.

Player Ratings: Torino 2-2 Milan

Generalna — Autor nikola22 @ 01:24

AC MILAN

Abbiati: 6.0- Made a good double save on Bianchi and Stellone in the 54th minute and did all that was asked of him tonight.

Jankulovski 6.0-A subdued effort from the Czech defender who did not muster up one of his best performances tonight.

Maldini: 6.0- The old Italian warhorse was caught out of position on more than one occasion and had trouble containing Rosina and Stellone.

Kaladze: 4.0-  The defender who looks like a character straight out of a Doestoevsky novel was the goat of the evening as he was beaten to the ball by Stellone who opened the scoring and then handled the ball inside of his own penalty area which set up Rosina’s equaliser.

Bonera: 6.0- Was embarrassed by Rosina on a number of occasions and is the weak link in the Milan defence.

Gattuso: 7.5- The Calabrese pitbull showed off his offensive attributes with a great through ball that led to Pato’s goal in the 29th minute.

Pirlo: 6.0- Looked a bit rusty after a long injury layoff but by no means looked out of place tonight.

Seedorf: 7.0- The smooth passing Dutchman directed traffic for the first 60 minutes but lost effectiveness as the match wore on.

Kaka: 6.0-
Gave the Toro defence some fits in the first half but faded away and had an extremely quiet second half. Should be ashamed of himself for his swan dive in the penalty area that earned him a yellow card in extra time.

Ronaldinho: 7.5- The signing of the summer so far gave the Rossoneri the lead in the 34th minute with a world class free kick.

Pato: 8.0-
Blasted a wicked shot past Sereni in the 29th minute just four minutes after Stellone had opened the scoring and was a nuisance all evening long.

TORINO

Sereni: 6.0- He was beaten by two world class finishes in the first half and was rarely called into action in the second.

Pratali: 6.0- Lucky he did not concede a penalty in the 54th minute when he blocked Ronaldinho’s shot with his arm.

Natali: 6.0- Had no answer for the Brazilian attacking triumvirate in the first 45 minutes but rebounded to have a decent second half.

Rubin: 7.0- Pushed forward on many occasions and was a real threat on the left flank. Tackled well and was never caught out in position.

Diana: 5.5- Could not latch onto Stellone’s header in the 71st minute when he was all alone in the six yard box.

Barone: 6.0- Gave up the free kick that led to Ronaldinho’s goal and was substituted off in the second half.

Dzemaili: 7.5- The Swiss international was the architect of the Toro attack and had three different chances to find the back of the net.

Rosina: 8.0- He as a real live wire this evening and was the most dangerous player on the field setting up Stellone’s goal and sending Abbiati the wrong way from the penalty spot.

Colombo: 5.0- His mix up with Stellone in the second half cost Toro a golden opportunity to bring the match on level terms

Stellone: 7.5- Opened the scoring with a well placed header that beat Abbiati and was a real threat all night long.

Bianchi: 5.0- He has been a major disappointment this season and was the worst player on the field tonight.
